Question #1:

How to arrange songs so that it can play in the order I wanted.?

Hi everyone, I need some help here.

I have converted some WMA files into MP3 files and put them into a SD card. I have created in the numeric order and even created the folder like example, Folder 1, Folder 2 and etc. I have put the songs also in No.1, No.2 and etc too.

But when I played the SD card in a portable MP3 player, all the songs in the SD card messed up. It jumped from playing Folder 2, then it goes to Folder 1 then Folder 3. How come is it like that? Is there any ways to arrange it till it played the correct Folders and the require MP3 files that I wanted.

Thanks in advance for your help and contributions.

Question #2:

Did my car battery finally die?

First off, I'm a very forgetful person. I tend to leave the headlights on when I'm in a hurry, so much so, that I bought a portable jumper and use it at least once a month (sometimes twice in the same day). That said, once I get my car running, I drive it for about 20 min and then it's good until the next time I leave something on. This is an 95 Honda Civic and I bought the portable jumper about 2 years ago.

I noticed late last night that I had the inside light on, probably for about 4-5 hours before I turned it off. In the morning it started fine but at the gym I had left the headlights on so it obviously didn't start again (there for 1.5hrs). I used my jumper and the car car started fine. It ran perfectly for the 25 min it took me to get home. I ate, showered, and tried to leave but my car wouldn't start again! Worse, when I tried to jump it, it still wouldn't start, and it didn't even make the beeping sound when the key is in the ignition.

Could that have been the last straw for my car battery? Was it so dead that not even the charger to make it thru to the car to turn on the lights? I want to take it to Autozone to get it checked out (and possibly buy a new battery) but I have to wait until my boyfriend gets out of work (in 5 hours).

And if for some strange reason it's not the battery, what else could it be?
When I realized I had left the light on inside the car, I pluged in the jumper at home. It was fully charged (spent the last 8 hrs plugged in) before I used it in the morning.
I used to use sticky notes, but they always fell off, and I (for a long time, nearly 2 yrs) always had my trusty jumper to help me out. I can turn the key all the way (is that what you mean by starter?), but nothing comes on- no lights, no beeps, nada :(
Thanks for all the help guys. My boyfriend is determined to try charging the battery on his charger before we get a new one. And I WISH my car would ding everytime I left a light on. It's just too old.

Question #3:

My portable jump starter came fully charged. Or did it?

My car is sitting in a no parking zone so I'm in a little of a hurry:

I went to an auto shop and picked up a portable battery charger and tool the bus home. I checked the status when I opened the box and it said it had a full charge. I plugged it in, and the charging light immediately switched to say "charged". This is why I'm assuming that it's a full charge and not a residual interface charge. I've had it plugged in anyway for 4 hours. And it's stayed green, so I'm assuming it's floating and I'm not getting any additional charge. Can anyone confirm my analysis or correct me if I'm wrong? I don't want to accidentally deep discharge a brand new portable starter, but I'm on a time crunch.
I'm worried whether If I use it now if I'll OVER DRAIN it NOT whether I'm over charging it. I know it has a float.
To anyone with this problem:

I decided to bite the bullet and just try it.

I connected the portable jump starter, but it didn't immediately work. While I waited for several minutes, someone came up to me and asked if I needed a jump. We connected jumper cables, but they didn't work immediately either. We let it charge for 3 minutes and Charlie (my car) successfully started. I drove it around several minutes and my battery was fine. I don't know whether the portable charger would have worked or not, but when I checked the battery again the charge glowed yellow, so I don't think that I damaged it. I'm charging it again immediately, which I recommend anyone do, as leaving a standard lead battery discharged is even worse than discharging it in the first place (unless it's labeled deep-charge which car batteries are not).

Question #4:

BMW X3 2005 have problem with my key-immobiliser, engine doesnt turn on.Car is 4 yrs old, driven only 30000KMs?

I bought this BMW X3 2005 steptronic (tiptronic) 4 years ago brand new. It's only driven 30,000KMs in total car age since the day purchased. I never had an issue with the car until now.

The key-immobiliser's lock and unlock button (on the key) is used before getting in the car and starting the vehicle...
It's also used when you shut off the engine, exit the vehicle, and lock the doors. I know it's definitely not the battery because the first thing I tried was jump-starting the car battery with another friend's car, and also with a portable jump-starter...and also all the lights are flashing on the dashboard as well as the interior lights are on (as per usual) when I turn the key in the ignition.

My vehicle when unlocking it and turning the key in the ignition...the engine does not turn on. I've tried many things such as lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, and turning the key in the ignition but still it does not work.

The gear stick is in P (park)...and is not in R, N, or D....however I have also tried igniting in N but still no luck. I have also tried pressing the accelerator pedal 5 to 6 times but no luck also.

Is this a manufacturer's defect?! My warranty is expired, but I was advised that if its a Man-defect then possibly it can be fixed by BMW even though my warranty is over. Is that correct?
Anyone have the same problems?

Question #5:

Will a portable jump starter charge my battery?

I am having too use a portable jump starter (elitech auto) to start the car all the time.
If I disconnected the battery and connected the charger whilst it is connected to the mains itself, would this charge the battery.

Question #6:

Portable Ubuntu, how to install software?

I put Ubuntu 9.10 on my 8 gb usb drive and am running Ubuntu Live with a 4 gb casper. I was under the impression that with a 4 gb casper, I'd be able to download and install additional software that would be retained on restart. It seems that Ubuntu Live only saves common settings to the casper, is it possible to install a full, working version of Ubuntu on my jump drive that won't affect any settings on the host machine? Also, is it possible to install Ubuntu from the usb drive to the usb drive?
I'd like to be able to boot from the USB drive, not run Ubuntu as a windows app.

Question #10:

jump start car - how long to keep it running?

Hi,

I left my car lights on.. the battery is now down. I know I can use one of those portable jump starts to start it.

My question is, after I do that, how long should i keep my car running? Do I drive it, or should i just keep it sitting at one place but let the engine run?

Thanks

Question #11:

My car is making a fast clicking noise when i try to turn it on.?

I was having problems with my battery dying on its own, and I replaced the battery, which worked for about two days, then it would die as soon as I cut the car off. So I thought I had a bad short circuit. So I have a portable jump start box, And i was using that, then last night when i went to go leave work, My car made this horrible clicking noise when i turned the key, but even without the jump start, i had power, so I could listen to the radio while i waited for a ride. Is this the starter, alternator, or a short circuit. I have a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question #12:

Best travel laptop for photographers?

Let me give you some background. I travel mostly out of a backpack. I shoot RAW and edit in Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom. I need something that is rugged, portable (under 5lbs), powerful enough to do my post processing.

I know most photographers laugh at the idea of doing post processing on a travel laptop. I need to because I'm in the field for weeks at a time. I shoot for newspapers so my finished files aren't that big and I don't have to do a ton of detail work like an advertising photographer would.

My first thought was to get a maxed out netbook: 1.6Ghz 3Gb ram 1024X800 and then have a desktop replacement notebook at home. But then the thought of switching to mac popped back in my head. I'm thinking about the 13 macbook pro. But I can't justify the price jump for something that is essentially a PC with a different operating system.

Someone suggested a netbook running mac's OS as the best option but I thought it might be underpowered. Any thoughts for a photo editing laptop with +1.6Ghz(preferably dual core), +3gb, -5lbs, rugged(not a toughbook), and with at least a 1024X700 display?

I should note that I'm running CS2 and want to upgrade. So the cost of buying CS4 is already factored into my price. I also want to stress that weight and size is very important to me because I live out of a backpack but I still want the minimum specs I listed above.

Also I think 15" would be my max size. I know the bigger the better for photos but I need something small for ease of travel.

Question #14:

My car won't start at all (no dashboard lights, nothing). Help?

I just got back from a 5 day vacation and found that my car will not turn on. When I approached the car, I tried to unlock it using my electronic key - it wouldn't unlock. Naturally, I thought this to be the key's fault, not the car's. I unlocked the car manually, hopped in, put the key in the ignition, turned it... nothing. No lights on the dashboard, no sounds, nothing.

My first thought was "the battery." I live on a college campus, so I called the campus police and had them try to jump the battery. They hooked up a fully charged battery (the little portable box kind) to mine. I tried to start the car again, with no avail.

The car is a 2009 Honda Civic.

Could someone please help me?

Thanks in advance.
(no engine sputtering, either... no sounds whatsoever)

I know that I just hook red to +, the - to the metal frame of the car. What are the chances that anything could go wrong? And will it just spark if it's not hooked up properly? Do I take the - on off first after the car is started?
